Both ways

It has been difficult this week to get time to do any research, things outside this sphere of life have intruded upon the time available. Despite that stuff is happening - mainly by other people. I heard this week that I will definitely have six papers emerging this year - not bad and its only February. Aris is making fast and significant advances with the breeding season evolution simulation model, we agreed on the experiments to run in our weekly skype conversation and exchanged message that eventually thrashed out the transition matrix that controls how inheritance happens in the model. This work should be done and written up this year. Around everything I made progress on the parameterisation of SORTIE, it has been more difficult that I imagined to get the data for the parameters and we will have to collect some ourselves. There is nothing insurmountable though, at least not yet. I am hoping to have a working model of SORTIE-UK by the first anniversary of this project. I managed to spend the train journey back to Cornwall finishing the Behavioural Ecology book proposal that the publishers have been chasing me for. The week looks better now I’ve written it down!
