I returned yesterday from a quick trip to Shandong Province in China. The purpose of which was to start Nana Li and Liu Yu off on their fieldwork. It has been a fascinating few days, partly because of getting to see the South-east Asian subspecies of swallows - very white and with shorter tails than their European cousins, and partly because I had never been to China before. The work went quite well, the birds are occupying sites which make them hard to catch but we managed to catch a few. Hopefully Nana Li and Liu Yu will be alright for their field seasons now. The week before that Aris was in London and we went through the results for the badger and TB project, which just looks great. We managed to draft a paper that to my mind looks great. On top of all that spring has finally arrived!
