Aris arrived in London this week bringing with him the definitive results of the breeding season evolution simulations. The paper that will result from this is now sketched out - looks like a straight forward story. Early breeding phenotypes almost always do better than anything else, even when they do not breed prolifically they tend to outperform phenotypes breeding at other times. Met with Greg as well this week for an update, he has got a place on the IBM course at UFZ and has settled on the water quality issue as the way to go. He has also agreed to take on the canopy light transmission part of SORTIE which will make a defined piece of non-computing work for him to get his teeth into. The COST preliminary proposal was submitted yesterday, to be honest I have little hope for it. As for so many European funding schemes you need to have the capacity for interpreting the convoluted instructions they supply with the forms. I am not sure I understood what they wanted.
