The start of a new year

Yes a new academic year has begun. We started well, submitted the breeding season evolution paper to Proceedings of the Royal Society - so fingers crossed! I am also working on the TREE article on the philosophy of modelling. I have come to the realisation that a section of the paper needed to be changed, based on a view that I had formed about strategic models and how I was no longer certain they really existed at all. Remarkably I have also made progress on the zebra finch genomics paper, David Clayton pointing me towards a useful GO analysis site that was maintained by a collaborator of his. This will mean that the GO analysis can now be completed and there will be nothing standing in the way of completing the paper - at last. Next week we are off back to Oxford for more tree measuring, this time accompanied by two field assistants who will be working for us for the next month. This should see the data collection part of the the project completed, a remarkable achievement after only a year.
