Less progress

There’s been a lot of other stuff going on this week and so I’ve made much less progress research wise. I did however finish one annoying piece of work. A couple of people - Anders Møller and Jose Aparicio have been trying to publish a critique on a paper Rufus, Jakob and I published in 2007. They sent to the original journal, where it was rejected. They then sent it to another journal who have decided to publish it and I have spent an unnecessary amount of time writing a rebuttal - not worth going into the detail here, its just been annoying and in my view unprofessional of both the authors and the journal. More positive progress has been made by Aris who has got the evolution model working and is ready to run simulations to generate data from that - excellent; Greg also gave his first talk in the school on Friday - well done. The only good thing I have done is to get the tree growth dataset from the ECN which is now sitting here ready for me to try and extract the data we need. Thanks very much to Michele for providing it so quickly and willingly.
