Moments

Obviously the key moment recently has been seeing a Red-crested Pochard in Victoria Park, but apart from that there have been some others. The TREE article has been sent to all the contributors - so far there has been no word on what anyone thinks of it, but I am pleased with it. In addition to that we have sent the breeding season evolution paper to a colleague for comments - its always useful (essential even) to get feedback from other people, its too easy to delude yourself. Aris and I went to an excellent workshop organised by Richard Sibley to introduce a technique recently devised by Mark Beaumont to analyse the output of IBM’s. A grant is now being prepared to fund a computer pool to allow the massive amounts of computation to be conducted. I must now get back to the forest data set and to arranging things so that we can collect the remaining data next month!
