Despite what was an extremely full week some progress was made on research. I managed to work on two papers, the breeding season evolution paper and the TREE article on the philosophy of modelling. The first of these is shaping up well, I had a bit of an insight this week that made me reframe most of the discussion. The paper I realised served as an illustration of a solution to the general problem of putting evolution into ecological models. With Alan Grafen’s formal darwinism project giving us the justification to use phenotypes rather than genotypes. The TREE article also progressed and is approaching a finished state now. The writing group has pulled in to just Michael Weisberg, Maurenn O’Malley and myself and the paper is now gaining a coherent form and argument.
