Trains

Trains are excellent places to work. The trip to Cornwall takes five hours, a lot can be achieved in that time. This week I managed to finish my summary of the state of play for the SORTIE parameters. This is needed because we want to know by the summer what data we must collect to get the first simulations to run. There are two versions of SORTIE - a basic version and a full version, we almost have the data we need for the basic version and running at least some of the sub-models from the full version will not be beyond us. The target is late summer, early autumn! Aris is pleased with himself this week - and he should be, his simulations of bird breeding season evolution are looking great, the results are pouring in and we should have a complete set by the time he next turns up in London. I am also managing to work up the preliminary COST network bid, which is easy. The full version looks like a nightmare though. Apart from that, I have outstanding - one text box for the post-ESF TREE article describing the complex and simple rabies models and how reliance on the simple one cost the EU millions of Euros; one proposal for a paper to Proc. R. Soc. coming out of the Kavli meeting; chasing Liverpool again to progress the zebra finch genomics stuff. Oh and a book proposal to finish!
